AI sound effects generator: describe a sound, download it
An AI sound effects generator creates a sound from a text description. Write what makes the sound and where, like an old wooden door creaking open in a quiet room, pick a length from 3 to 30 seconds, and download a royalty-free MP3. Turn on Seamless loop for rain, crowds, or wind. A 5-second effect costs 2 credits.
The 20 free credits you get after verifying your email work here too: that's 10 effects of 5 seconds.

How it works
A sound effect in three steps
Describe the sound
Say what makes the sound, how, and where: “An old wooden door slowly creaking open on rusty hinges in a quiet room.”
Pick the length
Choose from 3 to 30 seconds. For background sound like rain, a crowd, or wind, turn on “Seamless loop” so the end flows back into the start.
Listen and download
The effect is ready in seconds. Play it, download the MP3, or generate again for a different take. It stays in your Library.
Writing the description
From “door sound” to the sound you meant
The model only hears what you write. Three details make the difference: what makes the sound, what it's doing, and where it happens.
| Too vague | Better |
|---|---|
| Door sound | An old wooden door slowly creaking open on rusty hinges in an empty house |
| Applause | Enthusiastic applause and cheering from a large audience in a concert hall |
| Rain | Rain drops tapping on a window pane, distant rolling thunder |
| Breaking | A glass cup falls onto a hard tiled floor and shatters |
| Footsteps | High heel footsteps walking briskly down an empty corridor, light echo |
| Notification | A short, bright, cheerful smartphone notification chime |
Short hits and long ambience
A click, a ping, or a whoosh needs 3 seconds. Rain, a café, wind, or a crowd sound more natural at 10 to 30 seconds with “Seamless loop” on, so you can repeat them under a whole scene.
With music and voiceover
The sound effect tab sits next to AI voiceover and the AI music generator in the same studio, on one credit balance. To layer them, combine the MP3s in your video editor.
Where it helps
Where people use AI sound effects
YouTube videos
Transitions, hits under on-screen text, and the room tone of a scene.
Reels, TikTok, and Shorts
Whooshes, notification pings, and comic hits: the sounds that carry the pace of short videos.
Ads
The product's own sound: coffee poured into a cup, a box opening, a bottle cap popping.
Podcasts
Episode transitions, ambience under the intro, and short sounds that bring a story to life.
Games and apps
Button clicks, footsteps, explosions, rewards, and looping background ambience.
Presentations and training
Slide transitions, right-or-wrong sounds, and a short alert tone.

Being honest
What it doesn't do
- One effect is at most 30 seconds. For longer ambience, generate it with “Seamless loop” and repeat it in your editor.
- There's no searchable library of ready-made effects; every effect is generated from your description, and the same description gives a slightly different sound each time.
- It isn't for clear speech or music. Use the voiceover for speech and Music Composer for music; both are in the same studio.
- The effect isn't added to your video or synced to it. Place the MP3 at the right moment in your editor.
- The output is MP3 only; WAV isn't offered.
- Imitating a real person's voice or making misleading audio is against our terms.
FAQ
Questions people ask
How do I make a sound effect with AI?
Open the Sound effect tab in the voiceover studio, describe the sound, choose a length from 3 to 30 seconds, and generate. The effect is ready in seconds and downloads as an MP3. It runs in the browser; there's nothing to install.
Are the sound effects royalty-free?
Yes. The effects you generate are royalty-free: use them in ads, YouTube videos, podcasts, games, and client work, with no attribution required. Using them to mislead people isn't allowed.
Is there a free AI sound effects generator?
There's no free plan, but the 20 free credits you get after verifying your email can be spent on sound effects. A 5-second effect costs 2 credits and a 30-second one 12. After that you buy credits (from $5 for 75 credits); credits don't expire.
How long can a sound effect be?
The lengths are 3 seconds, 5 seconds, 10 seconds, 20 seconds, 30 seconds. The default is 5 seconds. Short hits need only 3; for ambience like rain, wind, or a crowd, pick a longer length and turn on “Seamless loop.”
What does Seamless loop do?
The end of the effect flows back into its start, so you can repeat it without an audible jump. It's meant for background sound: rain, wind, a café, a crowd, an engine hum.
How do I write a good description?
Name the source, the action, and the place: not “door sound” but “an old wooden door slowly creaking open in an empty house.” Add distance and mood if they matter (“distant thunder,” “a quiet room”). Up to 450 characters.
What format are the effects?
An MP3 at 44.1 kHz and 192 kbps that drops into any video editor, game engine, or app. WAV isn't offered. Your effects stay in your Library.
Is this a sound effects library?
No. Libraries let you search and download existing recordings. Here you describe the sound you need and it's generated for you, at the length you choose. If an effect is close but not right, change a word and generate again.
Can it make speech or music?
Not in the sound effect tab: unclear murmurs are fine, but words and songs aren't. For speech use the AI voiceover, and for music Music Composer, both in the same studio and on the same credits.
Can I use them in games?
Yes. Footsteps, clicks, rewards, impacts, and looping ambience work well. Generate each sound separately and import the MP3s into your engine.
