AI voiceover generator
An AI voiceover generator reads your script aloud in a natural human-sounding voice. Paste up to 5,000 characters, pick a voice, and choose between ElevenLabs v4 and the half-price v4 Turbo. The MP3 is ready in seconds with an SRT subtitle file and costs 10 credits per 1,000 characters on v4. No subscription needed.

Highlights
Why make it here
ElevenLabs models
Eleven v4 by default, plus v4 Turbo, Multilingual v2, Eleven v3, and Flash v2.5: the same engines many creators pay for directly.
v4 or v4 Turbo
Eleven v4 for the most expressive reads, v4 Turbo for long scripts at half the price and faster turnaround.
Audio tags
Write [excited], [whispers], [laughs], or [short pause] into the script; tags change the delivery instead of being read. Reading style and 0.7×–1.2× speed are adjustable too.
Pay per character
1,000 characters cost 10 credits on v4 and 5 on v4 Turbo. No subscription, and credits don't expire.
Subtitles included
Every voiceover comes with an SRT subtitle file, so you don't have to type captions yourself.
Dialogue, effects, and music
The same tool makes multi-speaker dialogue, sound effects, and music with or without vocals.
Works with video
The same voices power Talking Photo and UGC Ads, so your narration and on-screen presenter can match.
Studio-ready MP3
44.1 kHz, 192 kbps MP3 that drops straight into any editor or app.
Long takes
Up to 5,000 characters, about 5 min 33 sec of speech, in a single generation.
How it works
From script to voiceover
An AI voiceover is text read aloud by a text to speech (TTS) model. You paste the script, choose a voice, and get back an audio file you can drop into any video editor.
Your text and the voice you pick go to ElevenLabs' speech model; the default is Eleven v4. The recording comes back as a 44.1 kHz, 192 kbps MP3 in your Library, together with an SRT subtitle file, where you can play it, download it, or regenerate the same script in another voice. How natural it sounds depends as much on the script as on the model, so a few minutes spent on punctuation pays off.
Getting the script ready
- Punctuation sets the rhythm. Commas give short pauses, periods longer ones; break up long sentences.
- Question marks and exclamation points change the tone, so use them where you want the voice to lift.
- Write out abbreviations and symbols: “percent” instead of “%” and “for example” instead of “e.g.”
- Spell tricky names the way they sound if the first take mispronounces them.
- Pasting from a PDF? Delete page numbers, headers, and stray line breaks first.
Directing the delivery
On Eleven v4, v4 Turbo, and v3 you can write audio tags in square brackets right into the script, such as [excited], [whispers], [laughs], or [short pause]. Tags aren't read aloud; they change the delivery. On the same models you pick a reading style: Expressive, Natural, or Steady. Speed goes from 0.7×–1.2×. Multilingual v2 has style, similarity, and clarity sliders instead. You can also add an effect such as a phone line, an old radio, a hall, or café noise.
Where people use it
Narration for YouTube and TikTok videos, ad reads, product explainers, training and course videos, podcast intros, and phone menus. The MP3 works as a regular audio track in Premiere, CapCut, DaVinci Resolve, or any other editor.
Long scripts
One generation handles up to 5,000 characters, about 5 min 33 sec of speech. For longer pieces, split at paragraph breaks or the end of a sentence and generate each part with the same voice and model so they match. A 10,000-character script takes 2 parts, runs about 11 min 7 sec and costs 100 credits with v4 or 50 with v4 Turbo.
Putting a face to the voice
For a person on screen speaking the script, talking photo uses the same voices and lip-syncs a portrait to them. To have a presenter hold and describe your product, try AI UGC ads.
Models
v4 or v4 Turbo?
All 5 models use the same voices. Eleven v4 is the default; the difference is expressiveness, controls, speed, and price.
| Model | Engine | 1,000 characters | Per take | Use it for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Voice v4 | ElevenLabs Eleven v4 | 10 credits | 5,000 characters | The newest, most expressive model. Steer the delivery with tags like [excited], [whispers] and [laughs]. |
| Voice v4 Turbo | ElevenLabs Eleven v4 Turbo | 5 credits | 5,000 characters | Half-price, very fast version of v4. Understands tags; great for long scripts and drafts. |
| Voice Classic | ElevenLabs Multilingual v2 | 10 credits | 5,000 characters | The most consistent read with every fine control: style, similarity, clarity and speed. For corporate narration and audiobooks. |
| Voice v3 | ElevenLabs Eleven v3 | 10 credits | 5,000 characters | The previous expressive generation. Understands audio tags; try it for a different tone than v4. |
| Voice Flash | ElevenLabs Flash v2.5 | 5 credits | 5,000 characters | The fastest and cheapest. Good for drafts and very long scripts. |
Eleven v4 is the newest and most expressive model, and you'll hear the difference in ads and promos. v4 Turbo uses the same voices at half the price, comes back quicker, and understands audio tags too, which is plenty for long narration and first drafts. Multilingual v2 gives the most consistent read and the most fine controls. The previous-generation Eleven v3 and the half-price Flash v2.5 are still available.
New
Dialogue, sound effects, and music
The voiceover tool has four tabs: Voiceover, Dialogue, Sound effect, and Music. All four run on the same credit balance.
Dialogue
A scene with two or more speakers in one file. You pick a voice for each line and can add tags like [laughs] or [short pause] between them. Good for podcasts, sketches, and ad dialogue. One dialogue takes up to 10 different voices and 2,000 characters in total, priced per character like a voiceover.
Sound effects
Describe a sound and get it: a creaking door, applause, rain, a whoosh transition. Length runs from 3 sec to 30 sec and is priced per second: a 5 sec effect costs 2 credits, a 30 sec one 12.
Music
Music Composer composes the music you describe: a song with vocals or instrumental background music. Describe the genre, mood, and instruments, and put lyrics in quotes. Length runs from 15 sec to 3 min; 30 sec of music costs 18 credits and 3 min costs 108. The music is cleared for commercial use.
Voices
8 voices to choose from
The same voices work in every model and in dialogue, and in Talking Photo and UGC Ads too. You can preview each voice before you pick it; the fastest way to choose is to generate your first sentence in two or three of them.

Pricing
What a voiceover costs
You pay by the character: 1,000 characters cost 10 credits with v4 and 5 with v4 Turbo. In English, about 15 characters make one second of speech.
| Script | Speech | v4 | v4 Turbo | v4 in USD |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Short ad read300 characters | about 20 sec | 3 credits | 2 credits | $0.11–$0.20 |
| 60-second script900 characters | about 1 min | 9 credits | 5 credits | $0.33–$0.60 |
| Longest single take5,000 characters | about 5 min 33 sec | 50 credits | 25 credits | $1.82–$3.33 |
The dollar range depends on which credit pack you buy; bigger packs cost less per credit. No subscription is required, credits don't expire, and failed generations are refunded automatically. The 20 free credits you get after verifying your email cover about 2,000 characters with v4. See pricing for every pack.
Honest limits
What this tool can't do
- No voice cloning. You can't upload your own voice; you choose from the ready-made voices.
- Music prompts can't name real artists or songs, so it won't imitate a known song or singer.
- There's no audio editing: no trimming or mixing. To put music under a voiceover, combine them in your editor. The output is an MP3, plus SRT subtitles for voiceovers.
- Unusual names, abbreviations, and jargon are sometimes misread. Spelling them out usually fixes it.
- If ElevenLabs is unreachable, we switch to Google's Gemini TTS so your job doesn't stall. The backup voices sound different from the ones you picked, and delivery settings and subtitles don't apply to them.
- Don't use it to impersonate someone or to create misleading audio in another person's name.
FAQ
Common questions
What is an AI voiceover?
It's narration generated by a text to speech model instead of recorded by a person. You write the script and pick a voice; the model reads it with natural pacing and intonation and returns an audio file.
Is there a free AI voiceover generator?
You get 20 free credits when you sign up and verify your email. That covers about 2,000 characters with v4, or twice that with v4 Turbo. After that you buy credits; there's no subscription requirement.
How much does an AI voiceover cost?
1,000 characters cost 10 credits with v4 ($0.36–$0.67, depending on your credit pack) and 5 with v4 Turbo. A one-minute script is roughly 900 characters.
Which AI is used for the voiceover?
ElevenLabs. Eleven v4 is the default and the most expressive; v4 Turbo is the half-price, faster version. Multilingual v2, the previous-generation Eleven v3, and Flash v2.5 are also available. If ElevenLabs is down, Google's Gemini TTS takes over as a backup.
Can I control the emotion and pacing?
Yes. On v4, v4 Turbo, and v3 you write audio tags such as [excited], [whispers], [laughs], or [short pause] into the script; they shape the delivery and aren't read aloud. You also choose a reading style (Expressive, Natural, or Steady) and set the speed from 0.7×–1.2×. Multilingual v2 has style, similarity, and clarity sliders.
Can it make music and sound effects?
Yes, in the same tool. The Music tab composes a song with vocals or instrumental background music from 15 sec to 3 min, cleared for commercial use; 30 sec costs 18 credits. The Sound effect tab makes 3 sec to 30 sec effects from a description.
Can I clone my own voice?
No. There's no voice cloning and no audio upload. You choose one of the ready-made voices, which also means nobody can clone your voice here.
What format is the voiceover?
An MP3 at 44.1 kHz and 192 kbps, with an SRT subtitle file alongside it. It plays everywhere and imports straight into video editors. WAV isn't offered.
How long can the script be?
Up to 5,000 characters per generation, about 5 min 33 sec of speech; a dialogue takes up to 2,000 characters. For longer scripts, split them at paragraph breaks and generate each part with the same voice.
Can I use the voiceover commercially?
Yes, you can use it in your videos, ads, and products, following our terms. Using it to impersonate someone or to mislead people is not allowed.
Is this different from my phone's read-aloud feature?
Yes. Read-aloud features speak text on your screen so you can listen right now. A voiceover generator gives you an audio file to publish, add to a video, or use in a phone system.
