Topaz Labs
Topaz Video AI
Topaz Video AI is Topaz Labs' video upscaler, now sold as the desktop app Topaz Video. On Klakix you run its Proteus model in the browser instead: upload a clip up to 30 seconds and pick Full HD or 4K. A 10-second 720p clip costs 13 credits in Full HD, with no GPU or subscription.
Available on Klakix
Klakix runs Topaz's Proteus model in the AI video upscaler: Full HD (1080p) or 4K output, optional 60 fps frame interpolation, for clips up to 30 seconds. The desktop app's other models (Starlight), slow motion, SDR to HDR, stabilization, and batch processing aren't available here.

What is Topaz Video AI?
Topaz Video AI is a video enhancement app from Topaz Labs that upscales footage, removes noise and compression artifacts, and adds in-between frames for smoother motion. It runs on your own computer (Windows or macOS). On its current pricing page, Topaz Labs sells it as Topaz Video, but most people still search for the older name.
The app comes with several AI models. Proteus is the general-purpose upscaler that keeps detail in real footage; the newer Starlight models are built to restore heavily degraded video, and some of them run only in Topaz's cloud. Klakix isn't affiliated with Topaz Labs; we use the Proteus model through an API, alongside other video tools in the same account.
Topaz Video AI pricing
Here are Topaz Labs' video plans as listed on its pricing page on October 30, 2026. Cloud credits are used for the cloud-only models; local rendering on your own computer is unlimited in the desktop plans. We didn't see a free plan or trial on that page.
| Plan | Price | What you get for video |
|---|---|---|
| Topaz Video | $59/month, or $299/year | Desktop app: Proteus, Starlight Precise, Starlight Mini locally; Starlight Sharp, HQ, and Fast in the cloud; 25 video cloud credits a month |
| Topaz for Web, Video | $19/month, or $199/year (listed down from $29 and $299) | Browser only: precision and creative upscale, frame interpolation, slow motion, SDR to HDR; 200 video cloud credits a month |
| Topaz Studio | $399/year | All Topaz apps, including Video; 300 video cloud credits a month |
Topaz on Klakix: price per clip
On Klakix you don't buy a plan: each upscale is paid for with credits, and the price depends on the clip's length, the target quality, and whether you add 60 fps. The table is for a 720p source video at 30 fps, and clips up to 10 seconds cost the same as a 10-second one. The exact price for your clip shows on the button after you upload it. If an upscale doesn't finish, the credits are refunded automatically.
| Clip length | Full HD (1080p) | 4K | 4K at 60 fps |
|---|---|---|---|
| Up to 10 seconds | 13 credits | 38 credits | 75 credits |
| 20 seconds | 25 credits | 75 credits | 149 credits |
| 30 seconds | 38 credits | 112 credits | 224 credits |
Do you need a GPU for Topaz Video AI?
For the desktop app, yes, in practice. Topaz Labs' system requirements say its core video models need 8 GB of graphics memory, and that on integrated graphics very few processes run at a usable speed. On a Mac, Topaz recommends an M-series Pro, Max, or Ultra chip with at least 32 GB of RAM. The Starlight models ask for more, as listed on the Topaz Video page.
On Klakix, the upscaling runs on our provider's servers, so any phone or laptop with a browser works. A short Full HD upscale usually takes under a minute; 4K at 60 fps can take around ten minutes.
Topaz Video desktop app or Klakix?
The desktop app goes much further if you upscale a lot of footage. For the occasional clip, especially videos you made with AI, paying per clip is simpler. Topaz details come from its pricing page, October 30, 2026.
| Topaz Video (desktop) | Klakix | |
|---|---|---|
| Payment | Subscription, from $299/year | Per clip with credits, no subscription; 13 credits for 10 seconds in Full HD |
| Hardware | Your own computer, ideally with 8 GB of graphics memory or more | Nothing to install; runs in the browser |
| Models | Proteus, Starlight, and more | Proteus |
| Clip length | Whole videos | Up to 30 seconds per upscale |
| Extras | Slow motion, stabilization, SDR to HDR, batch jobs | 60 fps frame interpolation |
How to upscale a video with Topaz
Here's how to upscale your first clip on Klakix:
- Sign up, verify your email, and buy credits. Then open the AI video upscaler.
- Upload a clip up to 30 seconds and 50 MB (MP4, MOV, or WEBM). For a video you made here, tap "Upscale" under it instead.
- Pick Full HD (1080p) or 4K. Full HD is usually enough for phones; 4K is for big screens and editing.
- Turn on 60 fps if the motion looks choppy. It doubles the price because there are twice as many frames.
- Press Upscale and download the finished MP4 from your Library.
Strengths
What it does well
- The same Proteus model Topaz ships in its desktop app, with nothing to install and no GPU needed.
- Full HD or 4K output, with optional 60 fps frame interpolation.
- Pay per clip: 13 credits for a 10-second Full HD upscale, no yearly plan.
- One tap for videos you made here: no download and re-upload.
Limits
What to watch out for
- Clips up to 30 seconds and 50 MB; split longer videos into parts.
- Only the Proteus model: no Starlight restoration, slow motion, stabilization, or SDR to HDR.
- Upscaling can't invent detail that isn't there; very blurry faces get cleaner, not redrawn.
- No free trial: upscaling unlocks after your first credit purchase.

Smoother motion
Add in-between frames to get 60 fps from choppy 24 or 30 fps footage.
FAQ
Topaz Video AI: common questions
What is Topaz Video AI?
Topaz Video AI is Topaz Labs' app for upscaling and enhancing video: it enlarges footage to 4K and beyond, removes noise and compression artifacts, and interpolates frames. Topaz Labs now sells it as Topaz Video, a desktop app for Windows and macOS.
How much does Topaz Video AI cost?
On Topaz Labs' pricing page (October 30, 2026), Topaz Video is $59 a month or $299 a year, and the browser version is $19 a month or $199 a year. On Klakix you pay per clip instead: a 10-second 720p clip upscaled to Full HD costs 13 credits, about $0.47–$0.87 depending on your credit pack.
Is Topaz Video AI free?
We didn't find a free plan or trial on Topaz Labs' pricing page in October 2026. Klakix has no free trial for upscaling either: our free signup credits work for voiceovers only. The smallest option is the Mini pack, 75 credits for $5.
Can I use Topaz Video AI online?
Yes. Topaz Labs has its own browser plan, and on Klakix you can run Topaz's Proteus model in the browser with no subscription: upload a clip up to 30 seconds, pick Full HD or 4K, and download the MP4.
Does Topaz Video AI need a GPU?
The desktop app does: Topaz Labs says its core video models need 8 GB of graphics memory, and integrated graphics are too slow for most work. On Klakix, upscaling runs in the cloud, so you don't need a GPU at all.
Which Topaz model does this site use?
Proteus, Topaz's general-purpose upscaler. It keeps detail in real footage and AI-generated video alike. The Starlight models aren't available here.
How much does it cost to upscale to 4K?
For a 10-second 720p clip, 4K costs 38 credits, or 75 credits with 60 fps. A 30-second clip is 38 credits in Full HD and 112 in 4K. The exact price for your clip shows after you upload it.
What's a good Topaz Video AI alternative?
If you only need the occasional upscale, running Topaz's own Proteus model per clip on Klakix costs less than a yearly plan and needs no hardware. If you upscale long videos every week, the desktop app's unlimited local rendering is the better deal.
