What is Seedance, and who makes it?
Seedance is a video generation model from ByteDance Seed, the AI research team at ByteDance. ByteDance, founded in 2012, is the tech company that also owns TikTok and CapCut. Seedance makes short clips from a written description or a photo, and the 2.x versions generate sound along with the picture.
ByteDance announced Seedance 2.0 on Feb 12, 2026 and Seedance 2.5 on Jul 31, 2026. According to the announcement, 2.5 makes 30-second clips with sound in a single take and accepts up to 30 reference images. The model is offered officially through Dreamina, CapCut, and the BytePlus enterprise cloud, and it also appears in third-party tools such as Adobe Firefly.
On Klakix you get three versions of the family: 2.5, 2.0, and 2.0 Mini. Image to video adds Reference models that take photo, video, and audio references, plus models that edit or extend an existing video.
What is Seedance 2.5?
Seedance 2.5 is the newest model in the family, announced by ByteDance on Jul 31, 2026. It makes clips with sound from text or a photo, and according to ByteDance it can generate 30 seconds in one take and use up to 30 reference images. On Klakix one generation goes up to 30 seconds, or 25 seconds in Full HD.
In the blind comparison run by Artificial Analysis, Seedance 2.5 ranked 3rd for text to video and 2nd for image to video on Oct 15, 2026. It's one of the highest-quality options here, which is also why it's the most expensive version in the family.

Seedance 2.5 prompt examples
Describe the scene, the light, the camera move, and the sound in one paragraph. These are the real prompts behind samples on this page; you can watch the videos in the examples above.
“An epic sunrise over Cappadocia: hundreds of colorful hot air balloons drift above the fairy chimneys, golden sunbeams cut through the morning haze, and a crane shot rises to reveal the valley. Rich detail, large-format film look.”
“A drone flies over the Pamukkale travertines at sunset: white terraces and turquoise pools reflect the golden light as the camera rises to reveal the valley and the ancient ruins of Hierapolis. Crisp modern cinema look. Wind and trickling water.”
“A miniature world: coffee poured from a tiny copper pot into a thimble-sized cup, tilt-shift macro”
Seedance 2.5 vs 2.0 vs 2.0 Mini
The versions differ in duration, resolution, and price. Credits in the table are for a 5-second 720p generation and come from our model catalog; in Reference models, adding a video reference changes the cost, which shows on screen before you generate.

- In Full HD, 5 seconds costs 361 credits on 2.5 and 212 on 2.0. Only 2.0 offers 4K; 2.0 Mini goes up to 720p.
- The longest generation is 30 seconds with 2.5, which costs 880 credits in 720p. Trying the idea at 5 seconds first saves credits.

Why won't Seedance accept my photo?
The Seedance family doesn't accept photos that show a real person's face. The rule is ByteDance's: the BytePlus documentation says the Seedance 2.0 series doesn't support uploading reference images or videos that contain real human faces (2.0 docs), and the same rule is written for 2.5 (2.5 docs).
The rule applies to the photos and videos you upload. In text to video you can still describe a scene with people in it, but no model on this site generates real people or celebrities.
- Works fine: landscapes, city and interior shots, product photos, food and table settings, objects.
- Not accepted: portraits, selfies, family photos, or any shot where a real person's face is visible.
- For a photo with a face, pick MiniMax H3 Max, Google Veo 3.1 Lite, or Gemini Omni Flash.
Seedance Reference: photos, video, and audio in one scene
Give Seedance 2.5 Reference up to 30 photos, 10 videos, and 10 audio clips, and the model combines the product, location, motion, and style in one scene. Each video or audio clip can be 2–30 seconds, up to 30 seconds in total. Seedance 2.0 Reference and 2.0 Mini Reference take 9 photos, 3 videos, and 3 audio clips (videos and audio each up to 15 sec in total), and need at least one photo or video.
In your prompt, refer to them as @Image1, @Video1, @Audio1; the number is the upload order. Reference audio can't contain human voices (speech or singing): upload instrumental music, ambient sound, or effects.
One of our examples combines a product photo of a perfume bottle with a shot of the Pamukkale travertines, and the bottle appears on the terraces at sunset.
With photo references only, a 5-second 720p 2.5 Reference generation costs 116 credits; adding a video reference changes the cost, which shows on screen before you generate. The real-face rule applies to reference photos too. Pick these models in Image to video.
Edit and extend videos with Seedance
Seedance 2.5 Edit: upload a 2–30 second video and write what should change, like removing an object or swapping the background or the product. The output is as long as the source, and the cost is based on the source length.
Seedance 2.5 Extend: continues from the last frame of a 2–30 second video and adds 4–30 seconds based on your prompt. In both models you can add a photo and refer to it as @Image1. The real-face rule applies here too.
Is Seedance 2.0 free? What does it cost?
ByteDance's Dreamina page says you can try Seedance 2.0 there with free daily credits, and platforms such as Higgsfield sometimes run time-limited Seedance 2.5 promotions. Those offers and quotas belong to those platforms and can change.
On Klakix there's no subscription required: buy credits and spend them as you go. The cheapest Seedance generation is 2.0 Mini at 480p for 5 seconds, which costs 23 credits. There's no free video trial: we pay the AI provider for every generation. The 20 free credits you get after verifying your email work for voiceovers only, and Seedance unlocks after your first credit purchase. Before you buy, you can watch unedited Seedance videos we made on the examples page.
The smallest pack, Mini (75 credits for $5), covers 3 tries of 2.0 Mini at 480p. A 5-second 2.0 generation in 720p (95 credits) works out to about $3.45–$6.33, depending on the pack.
Seedance is the most expensive family we offer: the same 5 seconds costs 40 credits with MiniMax H3 Max. For shots without faces that don't need a long single take, it makes sense to try the cheaper model first.
How to use Seedance 2.5

Strengths
What it does well
- Long single takes: up to 30 seconds on 2.5 and 2.5 Reference, up to 15 seconds on 2.0 and 2.0 Mini.
- Generates ambient sound with the picture, and every version lets you turn sound off.
- 2.0 Mini is the cheapest in the family: 5 seconds at 480p costs 23 credits, good for seeing a few variations of one idea.
- Reference mode combines up to 30 photos, 10 videos, and 10 audio clips (product, location, motion, music) in one scene, and existing footage can be edited or extended.
- Six aspect ratios in text to video, including 21:9 widescreen. Strong on landscapes, products, interiors, and food.
Limits
What to watch out for
- Doesn't accept photos with a real person's face. For those, pick MiniMax or a Google model.
- Reference audio can't contain human voices (speech or singing); only instrumental music, ambient sound, and effects.
- The most expensive family we offer: 5 seconds in 720p costs 147 credits on 2.5 and 95 on 2.0, versus 40 on MiniMax H3 Max.
- No fixed seed and no negative prompt, so you can't reproduce the exact same result.
- The model's own speech isn't reliable for exact scripts; record the voiceover separately when someone needs to say specific lines.
